Course Description
In an increasingly diverse world, many employment positions continue to struggle with underrepresentation. While many employers claim to hire the “best candidate” for the position, we know from decades of research that bias influences hiring practices in ways that promote non-performance-related exclusion. This course is designed to provide employers with the tools for inclusive recruitment and selection without sacrificing excellence. The course places emphasis on both the theory and practice of hiring for inclusive excellence and employing humanized talent management strategies.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion, participants will:
1. Increase their awareness of unconscious and conscious bias and how they affect hiring decisions.
2. Identify and demonstrate inclusive hiring practices.
3. Understand the role of hiring managers as gatekeepers.
4. Explore the legal and ethical ramifications for inequitable hiring, and how to mitigate its occurrence.
